I have always enjoyed making and/or collecting dolls. I started collecting when I was very young and then lost interest for a while and came back to collecting in the early nineties. In 1996 I decided I wanted to make porcelain dolls – I had so much fun attending seminars, classes and conventions. I achieved my Master and Grandmaster title for porcelain dollmaking through the DAG – Doll Artisan Guild.
Porcelain dollmaking is a very long and tedious process with so many different paintings and firings. I have never been into the modern dolls so most of the dolls that I make are antique reproductions and I can spend weeks just researching the type of clothing the doll should be wearing, finding fabric that is authentic to the era of which the doll represents.
I will post some pictures of some of my porcelain dolls.
Joeann you have came a long way. I remember that first day with you at the doll seminar …you were so shy…and me so bold. I look at you and all your knowledge with great pride.
